GOVERNING AT THE BORDER: NORMS, RULES, CROSS-BORDER AND TRANSNATIONAL PRACTICES; FROM THE CITIZEN TO THE INSTITUTION

BIG_Lab and the Transfrontier Euro-Institut Network (TEIN) are co-hosting a two-day international conference examining the governance of borders and cross-border regions.

Held at UCLouvain en Hainaut in Mons, Belgium, the conference brings together researchers and practitioners from across Europe and beyond to explore cross-border cooperation, migration governance, border identity, and the tools and institutions shaping contemporary border management.

Sessions will address topics including cross-border housing and labour, EU migration and mobility frameworks, environmental and disaster governance, territorial identity, and the evolving role of AI in cross-border contexts.

The conference is co-organized with students from the Master's programs in Political Science and Public Administration at UCLouvain.
